PPP & PROJECT FINANCE
It has been said that talking about PPP is not like putting together a few golfers and a few jockeys to win a polo race (prof. Marco Nicolai). The metaphor jokingly focuses on the point: the collaboration between public and private subjects for the realization of public works (hospitals, bridges, motorways, energy…) requires an innovative approach, the sharing of objectives and the exchange of skills and sensitivity of both sectors.
To continue the metaphor, you don’t need to be a champion on the tee or run the grand prix. You need to learn how to play polo: if you are a public decision-maker, you know that you choose PPP instead of a traditional procurement procedure based on careful risk and burden assessments; if you are a private operator, you know that the economic feasibility of the operation requires a rigorous analysis, not only of technical aspects, but also on financials and prospects of return.
The PPP is the summary of these assessments. Whether it is the construction of a large infrastructure or the management of the public lighting system of a small municipality, you need lawyers who are competent both in administrative law and in relations with the lenders. We like to understand problems and find solutions, becoming a factor of your success.
