Ever since I got my Panasonic high-def television set, the first thing on my head was how long do I have to wait to get sky high-definition put in. I’d already saw hd movies via my apple tv and was very impressed, but I could not keep paying for rented films. What I really desired is sky, I wanted all the films and I wanted football in high-def. I had read some sky hd reviews that I had to simply stop worrying and just order.
How did I order sky HD
Well I got online and signed up, it took about 10 minutes and was fairly pain-free, much of my time was spent combining up the bundles, adding and removing – did I actually require sky arts. I opted for the sky hd package, the high-def pack and the movie pack. It was quite expensive I would now find myself paying just under 60 pounds per calendar month but would have everything I wanted in high-definition. It took a couple of weeks to get the whole thing put in, I live in apartments and already have a common dish, so the sky install was just some fellow giving me the sky high def box, and installing it. I could have done this myself, but it was this chaps problem. It took him about 5 mins, after which he gave me a quick summing up on the characteristics. I just wanted him to get out so I could play with my new toy.
How good is the high-definition picture
The high definition picture quality is in a word impressive. The best way I can describe it? well, I wear spectacles the images on a regular telly is like viewing without my glasses, blurry, lack of detail etc. When you see a high-definition image is like wearing the specs so much more detail, clear you start to see things that you would never find on the old image. I found myself considering what would the matrix look like in high-def, before I knew it I was watching all my favourite films again in high def.
Other benefits of sky hd
Well the other major benefit from my point of view is the sound quality. Sky pumps out dolby digital 5.1 surround sound. So, like me, if you have a 5.1 system, I have a sony, can’t recollect the model but it cost a lot, then the sound is dramatic.
The remote record feature is also a great feature. It essentially allows you to visit the sky website, view the telly schedule, and record. So if you are at work you can browse the schedule and record at your lesiure, when you get home everything will be sitting inside your sky hd box ready to view.
Free broadband – I was a little uncertain about the free broadband. I was with bt, and they had the worst service. I was lucky if I got 1mb download speed, despite many phone calls they never resolved it. When you call bt youre calls are sent to india, where despite their best efforts the staff are just reading from a script. I could never understand what they were saying and got really frustrated. So thanks to bt, I decided to opt for the sky broadband and try and save a bit of cash, I was paying bt twenty pounds for the pleasure of their poor service.
I got the sky hd box working first, and finally got the free broadband a couple of weeks later, as bt were slow in making things happen their end. I was dreading trying the net as I thought it would be slower than bt. To my surprise the connection was a full 2mb, I know this is not the fastest but for me I was jumping with joy.
